We are so glad we decided to spend our 25th wedding anniversary in Bhutan. It was a happy chance we chose Windhorse to show us around.

They built an itinerary around what we wanted to do, and to say it exceeded our expectations would be a cliché!! We had a mix of hikes, a camp out, visits to monasteries and Dzongs that literally dot the landscape, walkabouts in the towns of Paro and Thimphu and interacting with locals, sampling the local cuisine……

What makes a place, what makes a culture, are its people. The warmth of the Bhutanese, their simplicity and a general laid back attitude to life was what stood out. We happily succumbed to the flow and went along with it.

We had memorable hikes to the monastery over Dochula Pass, a trek at the immeasurably beautiful Phobjikha valley and at the impossibly located Tiger’s Nest. The camp beside Punakha river was just great; and the service provided by the Windhorse staff there was wonderful.

What made the trip all the more enjoyable was the company of our guide Yonten (Bachhan to his team) and our driver Chimi. We had interesting discussions on the Buddhist heritage of Bhutan (I wish I had read up in advance, to be able to assimilate more). They were both unfailingly gracious and cheerful . It was a fine balance they maintained between making us feel extremely comfortable and remaining as unobtrusive as possible.

Another trip to Bhutan, someday maybe…….

A year of planning to the Land of happiness and the Dragon led to a life time of memories. We as a girls Whatsapp group of Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam embarked on the idea of a reunion in Bhutan. Based on the web reviews chose Wind Horse Tours and they took care of all queries, substantial and silly from us 17 ladies for a period of nearly 10 months as the plan started taking shape. The tour commenced on Nov. 6th 2017 for a period of 8 days and 7 nights. Our group included a mix of Indian and non-Indian(US/UK) passport holders. The WH Manager Yonten Jamtsho was prompt in replying to our emails and coordinating with us all. From our arrival into Paro till our departure every minute details were taken care of by our exclusive guide Yeshi Penjor and his team which included the luggage van driver Prem and the tour bus driver Guddu and Raje.

I do recommend Wind Horse Tours for a comprehensive Bhutan tour for their individual, personalized and flexible plan.  However, I have to mention this that although we had made the advance payment by March beginning, i.e almost 8 months in advance, they did goof up on the hotels. Hotel Tenzeling instead of the desired Tashi Namgay was nice too. But a farmhouse turned hotel for half of the group in Gangtey did not go down well as our initial request was on the lines of Dewachen Hotel. We refused to stay there for personal inconveniences. Our ever resourceful guide Yeshi managed to find alternate hotel rooms of our liking. All ended well but did cause a dent regarding the efficiency of WH Tours.

FABULOUS BHUTAN TRIP

OUR PACKAGE FROM 15TH APRIL 2018 TO 21ST APRIL 2018 WAS ASSISTED BY MR. RAJAT GUPTA, NEW DELHI. HE WAS EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND TOOK GOOD CARE IN SELECTION OF HOTELS AND ITINERARY. THANK YOU SO MUCH MR. RAJAT GUPTA.

OUR SPECIAL THANKS TO TASHI, GUIDE AND THE VAN DRIVER WHOSE NAME WE HAD FORGOTTEN. TASHI WAS MORE LIKE OUR FAMILY MEMBER, VERY WARM AND FRIENDLY. HE WAS WITH US ALL THROUGH OUR TRIP FROM START TO FINISH. HE MADE THE TRIP EXTREMELY MEMORABLE. HE ALSO SHARED HIS LUNCH WITH US WHEN WE WERE TREKKING TIGER NEST. WE ENJOYED HIS COMPANY AND MISSED HIM WHEN WE RETURNED TO INDIA. OUR HEART FELT GRATITUDE TO HIM. GOD BLESS.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE IS 10 ON 10.

We travelled to Bhutan mid-December 2015 and the trip was organized by Wind Horse tours. Being Indian citizens, the entry to Bhutan for us was relatively free, no per day charges and minimal visa fees. We had initially planned this trip a year earlier, in 2014 with Wind Horse tours but had to do a last minute cancellation. Mr Pankaj from Wind Horse was very kind and helped to roll over our advance payments to next year. They worked out a great 10-day itinerary and were very accommodating of changes. Travel with a 1 year old can never be smooth as planned! We had requested for off beat and out of the city hotels/resorts so that we can be closer to nature and they did a great job with all the bookings and travel

We were a group of four who were received at the Paro airport by Guide Kencho and driver Anton. From then till we were dropped back at the airport at 1400 hrs on 13 Dec, it was an unforgettable experience. Special mention about Kencho: He was extremely good, polite and very helpful. We would recommend him to all our friends who wish to visit Bhutan in the future. Anton too was a very good driver, cautious and made our ride very comfortable. On the whole we would recommend Wind Horse tours to others. Namgay Heritage at Thimpu, Meri Pheunsem at Punakha.

Just a short note from the departure lounge of Paro airport. We had the most memorable time in Bhutan and we are glad we chose this beautiful country for our silver jubilee. Both Yonten and Chimi were wonderful hosts; caring, thoughtful and cheerful; they are a credit to your organisation. For sure, we shall be recommending Windhorse to all our friends and family. Our Party of 4 visited Bhutan in October 2018. Our Guide, Pema Gyeltshen was always attentive, very punctual & professional and always helpful. When we went to Tiger’s Nest Monastery, his calm demeanour and knowledge of the terrain helped us immensely. We descended when it was dark and it would have been very difficult without his help. Our Driver Dawa Tshring drove long distances carefully & never kept us waiting. We always felt safe with his driving. Thank you for making our trip enjoyable and memorable.
